Leading automotive graphics company Rice Graphic Images can change the colour of a vehicle by simply wrapping it in heavy-duty vinyl
The heavy-duty vinyl material wraps around the many complex aerodynamic surfaces of today’s modern vehicles. The vinyl doesn’t need to be polished to keep its lustre, just washed in the same way as normal paintwork. It is warranted for up to five-years against fading from UV rays or its adhesion to the vehicle. It can easily be removed at a later date, returning it to the manufacturer’s original colour. As the vinyl coating has protected the paintwork, it will be stone chip and scratch free, with an as-new finish.
The cost of wrapping a vehicle is similar to painting, however the bonus is, it can be inexpensively returned to its original colour and condition by simply removing it whenever the owner wishes, without an expensive respray. This can obviously enhance its resale value.
Rice Graphic Images (RGI) can wrap all or part thereof a vehicle. For instance a tailgate, doors or just part of a bonnet can easily be achieved without having to rub back the current paintwork, then mask it up for undercoating and painting, and then waiting for it to harden. The result can be as intricate and complex as airbrushing, but achieved in a shorter time and without the mess.
This news may put a frown on the faces of some spray-painters, but new technology in the form of UV stable vinyl is here. It comes in 50 standard colours including metallic and can also be colour matched to suit an individual tint.
RGI has also wrapped both aeroplanes and boats. As testimony to the durability and adhesion capabilities of the vinyl wrap, one speedboat travels in excess of 200km/h with the wrap being tortured by the force of the water, without a chink in its armour.
The UV-resistant vinyl is clear-coated in most instances, in particular on high exposure areas such as the roof, in order to stop any colour fading.
This technology comes from Europe and the US and is supplied in Australia by international company Avery Graphics.
RGI can digitally enhance the vinyl to any design you may require.
While all design work is done at RGI’s national headquarters in Wodonga, Victoria – it has a national installer network that will give your vehicle a makeover when and where you want.
